Cost Plus Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, has issued a voluntary recall this week of their Moroccan tea glasses.
The recall affects about 14,000 units sold by the Oakland-based distributor. According to the announcement, the tea glass exterior coloring contains excessive levels of lead.
Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects even in small amounts.
Consumers are advised to stop using the tea glasses and to return them to any Cost Plus or World Market store for a full refund.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of children’s hockey sticks that contain unsafe levels of lead paint.
The hockey gear, from the company Bauer Hockey Inc., contain excess levels of lead in the paint and decals on the sticks, shafts, and blades. About 67,000 units have been distributed throughout the U.S. since 2005. Most of the sticks also have the Nike symbol in addition to the Bauer label. Consumers are warned to take the products away from children immediately and to contact the company for a refund or a replacement.
