The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission found dangerous levels of cadmium in children’s “Best Friends” charm bracelets sold by Claire’s Boutiques Inc., and about 19,000 of the bracelet sets have been recalled as a result. No related injuries have been reported yet.
Inhaling dangerous levels of cadmium can cause lung damage, according to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, and consuming the toxic metal can irritate the stomach, possibly leading to diarrhea and vomiting. Long-term exposure to the metal, even at lower levels, can damage the kidneys. The Department of Health and Human Services lists cadmium as a known human carcinogen as well. Nissan recently decided to recall more than 130,000 Infiniti cars for a wiring problem that could prevent the airbag from deploying in a crash. Experts say the problem is actually relatively simple to fix. According to officials, the wiring harness for the airbag is attached to two sensors that detect whether someone is sitting in the seat.
The sensors are under the front seats, and over time, the sensors get jostled, corroding the connectors. Once this happens, the signal cannot transfer to the airbag, and the airbag will not deploy in a crash.

Atlas Operations Inc., a company based in Pompano Beach, FL began a recall of certain dietary supplements in December 2009. Recently, they have expanded this recall to include three more products that were sold in stores nationwide.
The potentially dangerous supplements include the products Stamin It, Erectzia and Vigor 100, all of which claimed to help boost sexual performance. The drugs were recalled because they each might contain an ingredient that is not properly declared on their labels. The ingredient is similar to an FDA-approved drug for treating erectile dysfunction, but may negatively interact with certain prescription drugs like nitrates. These drug interactions can cause blood pressure to drop to unsafe levels.
