Owner cited for on-air dog bite

Posted on Thursday, February 9th, 2012 at 8:48 pm

The owner of an Argentine mastiff that attacked a Denver news anchor has been cited for failing to keep the dog on a leash and for not properly vaccinating the animal.

The news anchor was interviewing a firefighter, who saved the dog from an icy lake the day before, and the owner on her news segment. She was petting the dog throughout the segment, but when she bent down to get closer the dog bit her on the face.

She was taken to the hospital where she had reconstructive surgery. The surgeon said the surgery went well, and she expects to be back at work in a few weeks.
