Infiniti recalled for airbag defect

Posted on Friday, May 7th, 2010 at 12:09 pm

Nissan recently decided to recall more than 130,000 Infiniti cars for a wiring problem that could prevent the airbag from deploying in a crash. Experts say the problem is actually relatively simple to fix. According to officials, the wiring harness for the airbag is attached to two sensors that detect whether someone is sitting in the seat.

The sensors are under the front seats, and over time, the sensors get jostled, corroding the connectors. Once this happens, the signal cannot transfer to the airbag, and the airbag will not deploy in a crash.

Your safety is a priority when it comes to motor vehicles, and defects can cause serious accidents. If you or a loved one has been injured as a result of a defective automobile, contact the New Jersey product liability attorneys of Levinson Axelrod, P.A., today by calling 800-346-5529.
