Supplements may dangerously lower blood pressure

Posted on Wednesday, April 14th, 2010 at 12:51 pm

Atlas Operations Inc., a company based in Pompano Beach, FL began a recall of certain dietary supplements in December 2009. Recently, they have expanded this recall to include three more products that were sold in stores nationwide.

The potentially dangerous supplements include the products Stamin It, Erectzia and Vigor 100, all of which claimed to help boost sexual performance. The drugs were recalled because they each might contain an ingredient that is not properly declared on their labels. The ingredient is similar to an FDA-approved drug for treating erectile dysfunction, but may negatively interact with certain prescription drugs like nitrates. These drug interactions can cause blood pressure to drop to unsafe levels.
